In following my own passion to audition to be the host of an Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) show so I can reach as many people as I can to live their passion – I thought of all of the advice that I give to my clients and whenever I do a workshop or speaking engagement.   That is what is amazing about my work – I find that I truly have to walk my talk and practice what I preach.   So, I will share with you my story to encourage you to go after your passion.

 

Yes it is true I was up at 3am on Saturday morning to audition in person for OWN and was in line at 4am at Kohl’s parking lot in Laguna Niguel (Orange County) with about 500 other people at that time – they were estimating they would see 3,000 people that day.   So how did I walk my talk and how do I encourage you to go after your passion:

 

1)      I showed up with energy, enthusiasm and passion.

2)      I was prepared – I put together a portfolio highlighting why I thought I was the best candidate to have “my OWN show.”

3)      I trusted my gut and believed in myself – I went for it!!

4)      I had my 30 second commercial down and I tell everyone I work with – you have to know what you want to present in 30 seconds and do it with energy, enthusiasm, passion and confidence.   That is all the time I had to pitch my show idea. I was in a group interview with 11 other people.
